Molly Ivins made hundreds of brilliant, funny quips through the years. But none can match her appraisal of the inflammatory speech that candidate and columnist Patrick Buchanan made at the 1992 Republican National Convention.

Among other rantings, Buchanan said: "Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

Ivins responded to this by saying that the speech "probably sounded better in the original German."
